Take Team Fortress 2, add a little Speedball 2, a hint of Mutant League Football and a dash of Smash TV and what have you got? Monday Night Combat, a new class-based, third person shooter coming soon to Xbox Live Arcade.
Microsoft’s online marketplace has been spawning some quality titles of late, and this offering from Uber Entertainment looks like it could be an absolute blast – especially when you form a team and play online.
The self-proclaimed “most popular lethal sport of the future” features six playable classes, each blessed with their own weaponry and abilities. The premise is simple: win a few matches, win kudos and win cash so that you can upgrade and become an even more lethal killing machine.
Besides the career, there are various game modes including “Blitz” (defend the so-called ‘money ball’ (!) from an enemy onslaught) and “Crossfire” (teams compete in a mass brawl, backed up by a horde or robots).
Anyone else thinks the game show concept is more than a little like the gladiatorial multiplayer modes in upcoming zombiefest Dead Rising 2 perhaps? Reports suggest an August release... watch this space.
